Jan 5, Monday. Moon moves into Cancer crossing the galactic anti-center or the place where we look into deep space. This is where the Summer Solstice is currently aligned and is linked with the energy of the Photon Band or light energy we are now experiencing until July of this year. (see end notes of Oct, 2003 Celestial Timings archives for more on Photon Band)

Week of Jan 6 - 12 The Cancer Full Moon symbolizes the fulfillment, or fruition, of the seeds planted at the New Moon or some earlier cycle. Visually the Moon phases last for three days, so we see the Moon rising full the night before, the night of, and the night after the exact Full Moon. Each Full Moon reminds us of the seeds we may have coming to maturity, to their fullness, to fruition, to the place where the fruits or gifts are received. The Moon then begins to wane this week representing the dissemination or integration of these gifts. Once each year the Moon is Full in Cancer bringing to light responsible nurturing of ourselves, our children, our children's children and our beloved planet. January 6 the Moon is rising near Saturn (9 Cancer) around 5 pm local time. Definitely worth checking out if you have clear skies.

Jan 6, Tuesday. Mercury (26 Sag) is stationing direct this morning at 5:44 am PST and maybe visible in the southeastern sky about an hour and half before sunrise. This Mercury station at Galactic Center a.k.a Hunab Ku "the giver of all movement and measure" and a direct source of energy and information that regulates the flow of life as defined by the Maya alerts us to the importance of this Mercury station. Currently, the alignment of the Solstices with the Milky Way, or Photon Band (see Jan 5) is activating and unlocking our DNA codes and intensifying our personal transformative processes creating new pathways and possibilities. Also it is rare for Mercury, the transformational messenger, to station direct in alignment with this area of the sky reaching its Still Point "where past and future are gathered" in the Galactic Gateway, or Hunab Ku, where past and future originate. The Still Point is an infinity point with great potential for receiving new messages, new information, new possibilities, new creative explorations, and receiving sacred knowledge limited only by our willingness to receive the possibilities coming through now. Simply being open to and accepting what IS allows this process to work its magic in perhaps unexpected ways. This energy is in place as January begins, culminates today, and will be active until January 16 when Mercury completes its transit over the December Solstice zero Capricorn point. (For more on the Still Point see April, 2003 Intro and day 3 in Celestial Timings Archives). Also it is worth noting that the waxing Full Moon rise is tonight, tomorrow night the Moon will have already begun to wane when it rises.

Jan 7, Wednesday. Today is the Cancer Full Moon (16 Cancer) highlighting the mysteries of responsible nurturing first of ourselves and then of others in our lives. Legitimate self-nurturing occurs when we are consciously practicing daily self-care, resting when tired, and doing activities that promote health and vitality for ourselves and the planet. The key here is to let go of the need to control or have a certain outcome because that limits our experience. Allowing and accepting what IS supports healthy self-nurturing.

Jan 8, Thursday. The waning Moon moves into Leo today. reminding us that the reality of our being is divine, nothing less. The Thomas messages of 2002 shared by James Twyman http://www.emissaryoflight.com/ spoke about how God descends upon the Earth, then it pretends whatever it wants to be, then it ascends back to its source. The message said we are God pretending to be who we think we are now and if we become conscious of the center point where God is pretending to be us then we can turn the tables and pretend to be God. This is the key.God pretending to be you is the same thing as you pretending to be God. We've said many times before that when you do this, then you're pretending something that is true. When you pretend something that is true, then you immediately become that Truth. Pretending we are God, which is in reality the truth of our being, is another way to open ourselves to receive the gift of pleasure and the gift of Grace. Imaging what it feels like, looks like, sounds like to be God, to be the fullest expression of loving compassion, acceptance and wisdom embodied in our own individual form helps to facilitate this process. In essence it is honoring the God within ourselves and honoring the God within others and honoring God within all creation.

Jan 9, Friday. Sun (19 Capricorn) trines Jupiter (19 Virgo) always within a few days after Jupiter turns retrograde and then again just before it goes direct. Jupiter is barely moving in the sky right now indicating we are still within the Still Point where expansion occurs through internal processes. Willingness to be still and notice what is seeking expansion through you and then intuitively acting with wisdom and self-assurance helps to ground these intense light energies in ways that are beneficial and supportive. (See Jan 3)

Jan 10, Saturday. The annual Sun Chiron (20 Capricorn) conjunction illuminates and fuels the shamanic process of healing our collective "doing addiction". Chiron operates at the most basic cellular level facilitating changes that transform our physical experience. Currently we are collectively operating under a cultural belief system that essentially determines our value and worth by how much we produce and have. Having is also an addiction that tends to fuel the kind of doing that does not necessarily nourish and support the essence of our soul's true expression. Dying to this addictive need to "have" and "do" can be terrifying, as so much of our personal identity may be coming from here. However, too much "doing" is robbing us from the true magic of life and a direct connection with the Earth. Doing that is heart and soul centered supports the flourishing of not only ourselves but all life. Questions that may help to reframe an unhealthy "doing" and "having" experience are: What do I really need to "have" to live a loving, abundant and joyful life? Am I really doing what I want to do - creatively expressing what I want to express? Is my doing supporting me and who I am?

Jan 11, Sunday. Moon moved into Virgo last night transmitting the mysteries of the importance of aligning with and ceremonially honoring the natural cycles and rhythms of Earth and Sky. Knowing when to rest, when to eat, when to accomplish things, and when to have fun, supports a healthy flow of life through the natural rhythms that help guide our Earthly experience.

Jan 12, Monday. Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Virgo (18 Virgo) today. Tonight Jupiter is rising around 10 pm and the Moon will rise about 43 minutes later depending on your horizon line. Once each month the Moon is transmitting the ancient Virgo mysteries attuned to the sacred rhythms of life. This year until Jupiter moves into Libra late September, the Moon Jupiter conjunctions are helping to stimulate a renewal of vision around how these cyclical mysteries are manifesting. Hanging out with the Moon and Jupiter is visually inspiring and helps to facilitate this process. All of those who have Virgo planets on their natal chart are receiving some kind of expansion in relationship to the planet/s involved and the evolving Virgo mysteries.

Week of Jan 13-19 This Last Quarter Moon (24 Libra) symbolizes the completion or integration process of the current Moon cycle that lasts until the Aquarius New Moon Jan 21. This is a return threshold crossing, a between the worlds activation, where the extraordinary world of the initiatory experience is being left behind, returning home or re-entering the more familiar world where the journey began. Only now the journeyer has been forever changed by this initiation and the integration process has begun.

Jan 13, Tuesday. The waning Moon is now traveling through Libra for the next couple of days energizing the mysteries of conscious equal partnership, harmony and balance. Moon in Libra is a great time to reflect on our inner and outer relationship with life and what these relationships are teaching us about ourselves. Venus slips into Pisces tonight or early tomorrow morning, depending on your time zone, where it remains until March 7. The magical feminine (Venus) expressing through Pisces operates in the imaginal realms where creative expression begins. Venus is also encountering Uranus who shifts our assemblage point, or belief system, that we organize our reality around, alerting us to expect the unexpected events that revolutionize our experience.

Jan 14, Wednesday. Today marks the exact last quarter Moon (24 Libra) return threshold centering around the mysteries of conscious equal partnership in harmony and balance with all life and is near Spica a fixed blue star in the hand of the Virgin Priestess reminding us that we reap what we sew. Conscious awareness and choice are essential for experiencing conscious relationship with each other and the Earth. It is through our willingness to think and act consciously that facilitates a growing conscious experience. Remembering to be.Conscious of being Conscious.is a great practice. Also today Mercury moves back into Capricorn crossing the December Solstice alignment near Galactic Center. (See Jan 6) Mercury is traveling through Capricorn until Feb 6 crossing the place of its December, 2003 retrograde station of 13 Capricorn on Jan 25.

Jan 15, Thursday. The waning Moon enters Scorpio early this morning heightening our passionate responses to life when we are open to experience them. The Scorpio Mysteries are noted for a willingness to explore and expand the edges of our personal and collective experience. Expanding edges are shamanic initiations taking us beyond who we think we are. William Irwin Thompson sums this up in his book The Time Falling Bodies Take to Light saying, "Edges are important because they define a limitation in order to deliver us from it. When we come to an edge we come to a frontier that tells us that we are now about to become more than we have been before. As long as one operates in the middle of things, one can never really know the nature of the medium in which one moves."

Jan 16, Friday. The Moon is moving through the two brightest stars Zuben Algenubi and Zuben Alshamali in the constellation of the Scales, marking the pans that weigh the sufficient and insufficient price, or the heart of the dead against the feather (truth) of Maat (Egyptian Goddess of Wisdom) representing the balance point between yin and yang, male and female, Heaven and Earth. The Scales also symbolize justice, or what Just Is, working with the principles of natural law (or cosmic law) and human rules or laws, and finding the balance and wisdom of how these laws ideally support the full experience of our divinity even in this dense dimension of life.

Jan 17, Saturday. Moon moves into Sagittarius today where it remains until Monday the 19th emphasizing the quest for truth and meaning, supporting a deepening investigation into our personal truth. Remembering truth is different in different states of awareness and understanding it maybe helpful to notice what Truth you are living? Is what you believe really your essential truth or is it based on what your culture or your family expects you to believe? How has your truth changed, grown and expanded recently? Are you becoming aware that what you once believed is no longer true for you? Does this feel confusing because you don't know what your truth is now? Are you okay with not knowing, trusting and being with the evolving process as it unfolds?

Jan 18, Sunday. Today marks the monthly conjunction of the Moon with Pluto illuminating the shadow side of truth. This includes the truth that wounds, the truth that accuses, the truth that condemns, the truth that limits a person's experience through guilt, shame or judgment. This usually happens with strict religious truth or cultural truth or truth based in fear. Can we really know and experience truth when it is operating out of fear and the need to survive, control and dominate? Might not fear-based truth perceptually shift and change when the need to control, or the threat disappears? It might be helpful to notice if your current truth is based in fear or love. Fear-based truth lives by rigid rules and standards designed to control outcomes and often carry harsh punishments or judgments if those rules are transgressed. Then we set ourselves up to feel betrayed or victimized or self-righteous if those around us do not live up to our standards of truth. Love-based truth expresses through acceptance and compassion. (see definition of compassion on Jan 24) Love-based truth is not invested in outcomes but rather allows and accepts what IS, trusting it is all in divine order.

Jan 19, Monday The waning Moon and Mercury are near each other in the early morning sky before Sunrise. About 10:24 am PST the Moon is crossing the galactic gateway near Hunab Ku (see Jan 6) crossing the December Solstice point of zero degrees Capricorn and exactly conjuncts Mercury at 7:36 pm. Noticing where the Moon is and tuning into this area of the sky helps connect us to the place where the most important symbols are located for this current Turning of the Ages. This is a great time to reflect on how effectively and efficiently we are living our lives "doing less and accomplishing more" through conscious intent, letting go of overachieving heroic tendencies that distract us from experiencing our true selves. (See Intro).

Week of Jan 20 - 27. The Aquarius New Moon window begins Jan 20 is exact Jan 21 at 1 Aquarius and completes on Jan 22. The Moon is born anew every 29 and ½ days, dying to the previous cycle and beginning a new journey. The New Moon is a conception point, a time when farmers plant their seeds, or a new adventure (or initiation) begins. There is no visual experience of the New Moon because it is the dark of the Moon when the Moon is traveling with the Sun. There may be the smallest tiny crescent visible the day before just before Sunrise or the day after for a brief time just after Sunset. At the time of the exact New Moon the Moon is invisible. That is why the New Moon is the seed planting time. Working with a clear intent during the New Moon window (the day before, day of and day after the exact New Moon) is a wonderful timing for collectively planting seeds, or prayers, for wholeness, healing, harmony, balance, peace, and so on.

Jan 20, Tuesday. The Sun moves into Aquarius where it remains until Feb 18 illuminating the mysteries of the freedom oriented revolutionary, and the seasonal energy when the seeds are breaking free of their outer casings. Thus, Aquarius dares to move into new territory, experiment with new ideas and innovative ways, often far ahead of its time in revolutionizing current thinking. This energy operates from a cosmic perspective shifting the current assemblage point through radical and often disruptive changes that are intended to liberate our current experiences into expanded states of objective awareness and insight.

Jan 21, Wednesday. Happy Chinese New Year. The Aquarius New Moon (1 Aquarius) marks the Chinese New Year of the Green Wooden Monkey, a trickster energy expressing through playful fun, resourcefulness, cleverness, vitality, versatility, activity, mischief, persuasiveness, and loyalty. The Chinese New Year is a celebration of renewal and coming prosperity. Some New Year Festival traditions are enacted by making vows, homes are cleaned, debts are paid, new clothing, new rice and other foods are purchased and families gather for a festive banquet on the eve of the New Year, New Moon activation. http://www.kikkoman-usa.com/cny/pages/year.asp This New Year, New Moon window is an opportunity to step back for a cosmic overview, revolutionizing our thinking through the lens of the trickster experimenting with new ways of being that are vital, resourceful and fun!!!

Jan 22, Thursday. The transformational messenger Mercury (8 Capricorn) opposed form oriented Saturn (8 Cancer) late last night or early this morning. The effects of this transit are felt yesterday, today and tomorrow. Saturn's job is to focus energy into form and Mercury provides the insights and ideas that are seeking a new form. Mercury moves fast and Saturn moves slow and can often seem at odds with each other unless integrated in a way that values and balances the gifts each has to bring. Careful planning is often essential for successfully executing an idea whose time has come. On the other hand too much planning can belabor the project into oblivion. The Saturn Mercury opposition is an opportunity to find the balance between these two seemingly opposite energies gaining insight and understanding about how to proceed now.

Jan 23, Friday. Moon slips into the mystical magical Pisces realm today accessing the magic of the dream where manifest reality is first imagined. Our experience of the world is in direct relationship to how we are dreaming it. Thus, our world changes when enough people begin dreaming a new dream and then act upon it. Carl Jung referred to this as "dreaming the dream onward." We are all dreaming the dream onward through our actions, feelings and beliefs regardless of whether we are aware of this process or not. Responsible dreaming occurs when we remember we are not only the dreamers but we are the dream.the dream is dreaming us. What dream are we dreaming in concert with the dream that is dreaming us? The dream becomes reality through our actions, thoughts and words, as well as reflecting the dream already being dreamed.

Jan 24, Saturday. The Moon is making her fourth conjunction with Venus since she rose from the underworld last September. This Moon/Venus conjunction marks the fourth gate in Inanna's ascent from the underworld also known as the gate of compassion. The retrieval of her breastplate symbolizes her ability to now truly love herself and others with a compassionate heart having healed previous wounds that distorted and limited her experience of true self-love, truly loving others and truly loving life! These images are great for creating a ceremonially enactment of Venus emerging through this gate. This is especially true for anyone who is turning a multiple of 8. 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80 and so on.between Nov 7, 2002 to June 15, 2004, because this is your personal Synodic Venus return cycle empowering the feminine experience in your life if you are consciously engaging it. With Venus at the gate of compassion, I felt a need to find a definition of compassion that reaches beyond dictionary definitions. Jelaila Starr shares a powerful definition of compassion in her Article What is Compassion? Jelaila defines compassion as: deep awareness of the suffering of another (or our own suffering when considering compassion for self) without the need to relieve it, feeling total appreciation for its value; a state of non-judgment.a state of total acceptance. Article on Compassion here This requires willingness to be with what is without having to fix it, change it, or make it be different than what it is. In light of the Recovering Hero and the emergence of Venus through the fourth gate of compassion we might ask ourselves if we are willingly releasing the need to rescue, fix, change, or control outcome and even more importantly, are we compassionately accepting self and others just as we are now? (See Jan 2004 C.T. Intro)

Jan 25, Sunday. Mercury completes its transit of the Retrograde degrees from last month. This means Mercury is finally entering new territory since its station retrograde December 17, 2003. How can we even more effectively and efficiently administrate our personal domain supporting creatively fun ways to express our divine essence? The Pisces Moon is Void of Course (VOC) from early morning until 7:06 pm Pacific Time when it enters Aries, reminds us plans may not go as expected. Relax, meditate, take a walk, and avoid starting anything new, or signing contracts or attempting to formalize anything like getting married or starting a business venture. This timing supports an inner meditative or dreaming process. Then when the Moon shifts into Aries the mysteries of direct, decisive, assertive, courageous, and spontaneous action will be emphasized until late in the day Jan 27 when the Moon goes VOC again. If you don't know what action to take, do something fun, spontaneous and in the moment. Spontaneous action helps move the energy into new territory.

Jan 26, Monday. From now until the end of the month the asteroids Vesta and Chiron are conjunct around 21 Capricorn purifying and further deepening the shamanic healing process linked with our misunderstanding of the Capricorn mysteries that have fueled the ever intensifying cultural "doing addiction" primarily driven by the need to prove our value and worth by how much we produce and how much we have or a need to distract ourselves from feeling our real feelings. Vesta keeper of the eternal flame purifies and enlightens the soul through her sacred fire. Chiron is "the wounded healer" or "shamanic healer" and assists in bridging the old with the new especially in the healing and medicinal arts. Chiron operates on the cellular level and assists in creating new neurological pathways, expanding conscious awareness and moving us past old limiting structures to greater freedom of being. Together Chiron and Vesta represent an opportunity to further purify and transcend the wounds that have limited our past experience burning away all that is not of our true essence. We don't need to do anything except be with what IS.accept and allow the process to unfold in its own timing with patience, compassion, and gratitude. (See Jan 24 and 31)

Jan 27, Tuesday. Moon conjuncts Mars (26 Aries) symbolizing the fourth labor of Mars in his current quest for the Holy Grail within himself that began last August 2003. The Holy Grail ultimately connects the hero (hopefully a Recovered Hero) with "the source of new life and strength" through the transformative and regenerative power of the feminine principle. This particular Grail imagery comes from Nancy Qualls-Corbet's book The Sacred Prostitute. In this current Mars quest, the labors of Mars could be thought of as encountering the wounding from the limiting beliefs of the old paradigm that devalued the feminine principle, creating an imbalance between heaven and earth, spirit and matter, sexuality and spirituality, and masculine and feminine. This knowledge is now becoming more mainstream through bestselling books such as The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. A simple example comes early in the book when the main character, Robert Langdon, explains, "The ancients envisioned their world in two halves - masculine and feminine. Their gods and goddesses worked to keep a balance of power. Yin and yang. When male and female were balanced, there was harmony in the world. When they were unbalanced, there was Chaos." The previous quest of Mars for the Sword of Truth, representing the essence of the masculine principle, is now followed by this new quest for the Holy Grail that began last August and lasts until Nov 7, 2005. This suggests it is time for the magical masculine principle to embrace within himself the gifts of the magical feminine principle, reclaiming healthy access to the regenerative and transforming power of the feminine already within him when he is open to receive it. This leads to the fulfillment of the Sacred Marriage symbolized by the new Mars quest in Taurus beginning Nov, 2005. (See Jan 28)

Jan 28, Wednesday. The exact first quarter Moon (8 Taurus) is happening late tonight or early tomorrow morning depending on your time zone. This Moon phase marks the rapid acceleration of the increasing light of the Moon over the next week until it reaches its Full Moon phase on Feb 6 in Leo. Taurus is an archetype that includes the mysteries of the Sacred Marriage, the symbolic union of the God and Goddess through their chosen emissaries be they priest and priestess, or king and queen, or some such combination. The Sacred Marriage is symbolized by the physical union of the masculine and feminine principle in ceremonial celebration usually at Beltane. In ancient times this was an essential ceremonial rite as it. "assured the fertility and well-being of the land and the people." (from The Sacred Prostitute by Nancy Qualls-Corbett). This is a time to consider how well you are doing with your own Sacred Marriage within yourself, the relationship of your inner feminine with your inner masculine regardless of whether you have an external partner or not.

Jan 29, Thursday. Venus (18 Pisces) and Mercury (18 Capricorn) are aspecting Jupiter (18 Virgo) today magnifying and expanding the feminine mysteries and whatever wise and wonderful messages are available to us when we are listening. This process is greatly facilitated when we are connecting deeply with nature in some way. The Earth's innate wild essence teaches us the mysteries of life and of ourselves when we consciously engage her natural cycles and rhythms. Connecting with nature renews and strengthens those who are openly receiving her life giving energy with gratitude and appreciation.

Jan 30, Friday. Moon moves into Gemini this evening illuminating the mysteries of the Trickster Coyote who stretches us beyond rational, linear, and logical ways of thinking and expressing. This story of Coyote In Eden as retold by KieYoeT is not about a logical and rational experience but rather conjures up images and questions about the nature of duality and suggests its purpose is to take us beyond the boring domain of perfection. God created all things in an idealistic way. God created Earth. God's brother, Coyote, walked up next to him on Earth. "Looks good, God." God created all of the plants, and animals. "Looks good, God." After a week, God got tired and decided to create another world. God was bored, so he left. Coyote stayed. Coyote noticed that Earth was boring. The land had no beautiful mountains or hills. It was flat. There were no waves. The sea was still. Every tree and plant grew in military rows. They gave only oranges and carrots. All of the animals were dumb, and there were none such as he and his brother, God. There was nothing to challenge these dumb animals because everything was perfect. They stayed the same. Coyote got an idea. I will fix it. Coyote stomped on the ground and made the mountains and hills. Coyote splashed in the water and created falls, waves, and rain. Coyote threw the seeds of all the plants into the sky so that they would mix together. And Coyote made the animals fight and die. He created humans. These humans became smart and soon discovered Coyote. They blamed him for earthquakes, floods, brush fires, and tornados. They said he was bad. God came back to see Earth again. "What have you done Coyote?" Coyote smiled.

Jan 31, Saturday. Mercury conjuncts Chiron (22 Capricorn) and Vesta (23 Capricorn) while Venus (21 Pisces) sextiles them all, further energizing the Jan 26 conjunction of Chiron and Vesta with the possibility of new messages coming through to further anchor the new creative pathways now possible as the old limiting ways continue to be transformed. (See Jan 26)
